So Much Time but Nothing to Do?

It’s Friday and that’s when the phone starts ringing and people start asking… “have you made up your mind yet… what are you going to do this weekend?”. Well my answer is the same as the past two weekends. I’m going to take it easy and may go get a drink with some friends early this evening.

But I’m supposed to still be taking it easy so I have an excuse. However, if I was a 100% and ready to roll this is what I’d be doing this weekend… A “dream” weekend if you will.

Friday 5:30pm – Exit the building and immediately drive home and arrive around 5:37pm where I would throw on shorts and a tshirt, grab the dog leash…. and the dog of course and head to Mo Joe’s Burger Joint for a cold beverage with some friends and a bucket of water for our puppies. Of course I would have to grab a Carnivore Burger with Cheese Fries!

Friday 7:30pm – Leave Mo Joes, take the pups home, shower, throw on jeans and tshirt and watch the 6pm news on DVR while we wait for a cab to take us to Havannah Deluxe. We’d play darts and catch up with friends until about 10pm and then jump in a rickshaw or the R Line (which I still think needs a disco ball and music videos playing on the flat screens) and head down to Boylan Brew Pub to catch the sunset bouncing off the buildings downtown. We’d top off the evening with a visit to Five Star to check out their new outdoor seating.

Saturday 12:39am – In bed for 10 solid hours of rest

Saturday 10:39am – Jump up, walk the dog, shower and head to the Farmers Market to pick up some fresh cucumbers and bacon with some neighbors. Then I’d head home to make a homegrown tomato sandwich with sliced cucumbers and fresh crispy bacon on toasted multigrain bread.

Saturday 12:00pm – Me and some friends would jump in the Wrangler, top down, IPOD plugged in and scoot to Wrightesville with no stops so that we would pull on to the beach at 2:00pm. Play some bocci ball, throw the frisbee, and take a dip in the Atantic would be a pretty good day.

Saturday 6:00pm – Early dinner at Dockside, eat some oysters and laugh about the day.

Saturday 8:00pm – Put the top up on the Jeep, pass around the Aloe Vera to sooth everyone’s skin and cruise on home listening to a pre-set playlist.

Saturday 10:30pm – Bed Time… Tired… Need 12 solid hours of sleep!

Sunday 10:30am – Wake-up, stretch, eat some bacon and eggs… go back to sleep on the back deck. Sunday’s are supposed to be lazy!

Be adventurous! There are a lot of cool places to hit up on a random Saturday and you can be there in less than two hours (well… if the car is gassed up, you don’t have to stop for something) but here’s a couple of my favorites to get out of town for a few hours and not go to far:

1. Wrightesville Beach – Get on 40 and go East

2. Lake Gaston – Get on 85 and go North

3. Asheboro Zoo – Get on 64 and go South

4. Carowinds – Get on 40 and go West… then get on 85 and go south (more like 2.5 hours with the new bypass)
