Triangle Modernist Home Tour – May 30th

Triangle Modernist Enthusiasts are able to tour another featured home in the Triangle on May 30th. This part of the series includes the home of Dave and Charlene Johnson. Anyone who has cruised down Lake Boone Trail in the last several years has definitely taken notice of this architectural marvel that has been written up in Metro Magazine.

Today, I got a sneak peak of what everyone else will have the opportunity to witness on May 30th.

Designed by their daughter, Jessica Johnson Moore, and Chad Everhart, this home is flanked in beautiful Brazilian Hardwoods that start on the floor and move their way up the walls in the entry. Each of the three levels is climate controlled by its own system making this a budget friendly home when it comes to heating and cooling costs. Ann-Cabel Baum Anderson, the listing agent of the property, reported that the average utilities bills are $150 per month including gas, electricity and water. The irrigation system is supplied by reclaimed water that falls from the roof down rain chains and collects in underground cisterns.

This Eco-Friendly home owners also used recessed fluorescent lighting, area rugs made from recycled materials, poured concrete surfaces throughout the house including the built-ins in the bedroom and all of the countertops in the house. There is a sundeck and a secluded outdoor seating area with a built-in bbq ready for any party.

This home is a real treat for anyone who registers for the Triangle Modernist Home Tour Series. Be sure to log on to http://trianglemodernisthouses.com to sign up for this featured home.
